Demo
FAQs
Q: My joystick / throttle / rudder pedals don't work
correctly
A:
There was a bug in the controller select screen. When
the hatswitch is disabled it broke the ability of the
joystick to control turns and strafes. This was fixed
in a version of the demo that was released 10/18/01.
If you are experiencing controller problems, delete
the C4PLYR.SAV and C4.CFG files and run the new version
of the demo. This SHOULD fix the problem. We will continue
to troubleshoot various controller setups to make sure
joysticks, throttles, and pedals generally work.
Force
feedback was not implemented for the demo, however we
do expect it to be in the final version of the game.
Q: How do I remap the keyboard / joystick / throttle?
A:
The remap function was disabled for the demo. You'll
have to use the default mappings for now. You will have
the ability to remap the keyboard, mouse, and joystick
in the final version of the game.
Q: The game doesn't work properly with my 3D card
/ drivers
A:
As this is a pre-release demo, the 3D card support in
the product is not complete. This demo was optimized
to run with cards that support hardware T&L, specifically
the GeForce series and the ATI Radeons (excluding the
VE). For the Nvidia cards, we have noticed a decline
in frame rate from the 12.41 drivers to the 21.81 and
21.83 drivers.
We
are continuing to optimize our 3D performance both on
these cards as well as others.
Q: I keep getting shot out of the sky right away
A:
Who would've thought a guy on the ground with a stinger
missile could be so deadly? One of the advantages of
a helicopter in combat is it's ability to stay low and
use the terrain and trees for cover. Hovering or flying
high will make you a target for every enemy with a missile
launcher. If you find yourself taking off and getting
shot down right away, try staying low. Press the Z or
X keys to preset your height at one of two levels. This
will keep you close to the ground. As you fly down river,
listen for the missile lock warning tone. When you hear
the tone, look at your threat indicator. The red bar
will indicate the direction you're being targeted from.
Simply turn towards the target and take it out.
Note:
You'll find the hydras rockets are particularly useful
against ground troops. If you encounter a large group
of ground troops running at you, the damage radius from
a couple of well placed hydras will stop them in their
tracks.
Q: Will there be multiplayer?
A:
Yes, the full version of the game will support 16 player
multiplayer through NovaWorld, our online large-scale
multiplayer service. Game types will include, Cooperative
and Deathmatch, as well as others.
Q:
Is there an advanced flight model?
A:
The advanced flight model options were not available
in the demo. In the final version of the game, users
will be able to customize the flight physics to give
a more authentic feel of helicopter flight.
Q: Will there be a mission editor?
A:
Yes. The full version of the game will contain a mission
editor, allowing users to create their own single player
and multiplayer missions.
Q: No sound
A: There is a known bug where the game will sometimes
lose sound after switching video resolutions. If you've
gone into the game, heard sound, switch screen resolution,
and your sound has all of a sudden disappeared, simply
exit and restart the game. Your sound should return.
Q:
I'm still having problems with Thrustmaster or Saitek
controllers
A: We have found a bug when using the Thrustmaster Top
Gun Fox 2 Pro Shock, Afterburner, Saitek X36, and X45
controllers. This bug causes the Comanche to spin wildly
when it's in the air. We are looking into the problem
now, and it will be fixed in the final release version.
